Cant imagine doing that in the time of 45 min exposures.
Can’t tell if you’re joking, but the time of 45min exposures was definitely over in 1920. ; ) Panchromatic plates (which were also much more sensitive) were invented in 1906, and the Leica small frame camera was invented in 1917, so there must have been some selfie-ready film (or glass plates) available.
Thanks for the info, but no, im not saying that at all. Im just saying that, in the era of the 45 min exposure, selfies eould have been a pain. Thats why everyone in those pictures generally look so miserable.
Nice Vsauce video related to this picture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMaBVfIedFw
Edit: fuck off with that ai slop!
(Looking at the hands)
Edit 2: I admit it when i am wrong and thanks for all who showed me that i thought it was ai slop!
so: fuck off with those aggressive upscalers which made thinks look even more shitty!
Very much real: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMaBVfIedFw

Looks more like some aggressive upscaling than an AI generated image.
I checked it in an AI checker says it’s real
Don’t trust them blindly, I tested one by submitting a very obviously generated image and it came back as 99% probability of being real.
Yep I tend to try a few. Any other tips?
A reverse image search helps since anything predating decent image generation is in the clear.
Ooooh good tip thanks
This is from a series of photos by Joseph Byron Clayton. It went viral back in 2014, here is an article from back then.
Prosthetic.
