I think the title is not very good, but the list is useful. Unfortunately, it is not likely to be convincing to car companies because money.

I cant believe I am writing this with a straight face, but we need an open source EV platform.

    • Physical buttons on the steering wheel.

    • Physical controls for temperature and fan speed.

    • Physical controls for air flow and direction.

    • Physical glove box opening mechanism.

    • Physical Rearview mirror.

    • Actual Rear window. Vehicles that can have a rear window should have a rear window.

    • Side-view mirrors

Of note, these are things the article says EVs should have, to avoid stupid mistakes.

Also, this list seems to be missing some, like physical and obvious door handles, a physical button to open the charge port door, turn stalks (I’d go further here and make them be like mechanical switches, not ‘soft switches’ though that might be a me thing). Also a glove box, which idk storage is good, a glove box specifically? Meh.

It would be cool if it started as a digital model that was community edited first in digital contexts/simulations in a public fashion and then it was built at the end of the process.
