Telling someone that you hope their day goes well/improves is kind but it can feel insincere when it’s stranger to stranger. Yeah but as someone who worked retail with women in the past, they constantly have to deal with creepy men hitting on them. So I don’t really blame them if they take it that way.

I’m simply trying to point out that there are people who work front line jobs and who have bad days that aren’t perfectly attuned to social cues and gestures out in public and interpret social situations in diverse ways.
I just think that the risk of coming off as insincere if you say something nice is way lower than the risk of coming off as a creep and making someones bad day feel worse.
