When I played Skyrim I saved all the apples I could find. I didn’t eat a single one. And I went out of my way to find or buy more all the time. When I got a house I dedicated a room for apple storage.

Oh, just remembered: I sometimes eat the peanuts with the shell on. It tastes nothing, so I don’t have a problem with it.
