A rooftop misting system in northern China has gone viral as extreme heat drives demand for cooling technology. Interest in the system has extended beyond China, including to Europe where communities are sweltering in record-breaking temperatures.

    There are some misting systems here, usually in parks not on rooftop. It’s great during noontime bringing down the peak a bit but at night the moist air stays warm a lot longer. You can feel walking into a pocket of tropical heat, when the surrounding area has already cooled down noticable.

      I wonder if being up as high as it is, if some of the cooling comes from albedo, and the wind dispersal prevents it from basically becoming excessive humidity at low ground. I’ve only seen it at sporting events here during summer (like for patrons to cool off), and at work sites where I assumed it was for keeping dust down.
