The move addresses a bottleneck, as Lockheed Martin has been winding down ATACMS output at its Camden, Arkansas, site while prioritizing newer missiles.
I think Germany will continue to do so longterm no matter what is being said right now so long as genuine fascists don’t take power in Germany… which with the AfD is always kind of a worrying concern.
Still, Germany is a vibrant country and like the US no matter how much the leadership does or does not try to do to sabotage Ukraine it doesn’t really change the average person’s feeling that Ukraine is a sympathetic cause for pretty simple reasons. As such there is only so much the US and German governments to keep their people from helping Ukraine.
