    frog has been around well before the comic book character.

    the character trait idea could have come from the frog. authors do this all the time

      Well yeah, the frog has been around. The name Wolverine frog is more recent than that though. More frequently it’s called a hairy frog.

              For anyone who actually cares, Wolverine the comic book character was first written in 1974. This frog was first discovered in the early 1900s, but it’s skin-piecing bone claw mechanism wasn’t discovered until 2008. It’s nickname of “wolverine frog” is 100%, definitively, objectively, named after the comic book character, and not the other way around.
