    If you’re being asked to max out on token usage, look for a new j – okay look, you get it, right? Go find a job that isn’t going to wrench reality from your tenuous grasp. They do exist, largely at companies so small that they don’t turn up on job platforms. It might take months to find one, so start now.

    I work at one. Pay is not the best, boss sucks, but at least he knows he’s dumb and deferrs to us. No one uses AI except a couple employees who are notoriously bad at their job and keep evangelizing it to everyone. Those people (it’s really only one) only has their job because they shacked up with the owner’s daughter ASAP. Something that will inevitably get them fired lol.

    I run the development and database systems and everything is open source and self hosted. Our whole company stack can be run on $25 worth of computers. I’ve used the same stack with a local non-profit on that $25 hardware and it saved them $700/mo.

    All my code is handwritten and open source. If I see someone submitting AI code, it is immediately rejected and that person is removed from the team (this just means re-tasked to production work, not necessarily fired).
