Basically the title, just wanted to see how people are approaching the very real possibility of global fuel shortages in the coming months.
I feel good on food to help lessen the blow of inflation, but looking at the el nino’s effect on agriculture I’m reluctant to burn through my food supplies too much.
How does everyone else feel? What are you doing to prepare?
The rest of ya’ll can get fucked, I hardly drive anywhere.
EDIT: Get yourself an e-bike or a Moped if you cant live where a bus pass can get you places. And an expensive bike lock.
Yeah, right!?
Better question: forget about shortages, how are you all preparing for the reality that fossil fuel use is unsustainable, ecologically catastrophic, and morally unjustifiable?
You can also buy kits to electrify a bike you already have
I think the normal basic prepper stuff applies
- have a properly stored supply of emergency water to last your household atleast a month. (You will want the correct opaque containers and add water purifier so nothing grows in it, regular bottled water isn’t meant for long term storage)
- Have a stocked pantry of shelf stable dry-goods. Beans and rice are your friend.
- have methods to power devices off grid or in an emergency.
- analyze how you use things and plan how you can conserve in a disaster
- have a way to talk to your neighbors that do not rely on the grid like meshtastic or even radio
- help your neighbors out as much as you can, grow a community.
Perhaps a bit too basic lol.
I don’t think things will be great, but I also don’t see water shutting off unless we reach absolutely no oil.
I’m imagining we see a 1970s style shortage
I would say drive less but we barely drive. I have like 30k on a 10+ year old vehicle.
