As far as I am seeing on Snopes and CBS News, this 7-Up ad was a real ad in the 1950’s.
NOTE! There is almost the same image circulating that claims to be about giving beer to infants. That is a FAKE ad. It looks virtually identical as this one, but replaces 7-Up with beer. Same baby etc.
There is also a “Soda Pop Board of America” fake ad, with the tagline, “For a Better Start in Life, Start Cola Earlier”. It also features a photo of a baby, but looks different from this. That ad is also FAKE -> Hoax Ad
My grandmother’s go-to cure for nausea was 7-up and orange juice. Any grandkid that wound up staying home from school got it. She swore it had to be 7-up, even though the stuff had the same ingredients as any other lemon-lime soda. Gotta wonder how much this kind of marketing played into that insistence.
I’m just glad it was OJ and not milk.
FWIW, it works okay as a nausea remedy, but my theory is that this is just because it’s got fluids, calories, and is usually palatable for someone with mild nausea.
That 7up milk sounds absolutely foul.

Cream Soda and milk is(or was) popular in China and it’s pretty good. I cant imagine this would be that different

They’re mixing Cream Soda with milk, and surprisingly no, the milk doesn’t curdle despite being highly acidic. I have not tried it with 7Up, but it also works with both Coke and root beer.
I dunno. Coke and milk are the best things to add into a vodka/kahlua mix.
Went to a restaurant and the waitress thought I’d like a chocolate Coke. Tried it. Wasn’t terrible, but I’m not going to seek it out for myself.
I recommend adding a couple dashes of chocolate bitters to your coke if you want to try a version that is actually good
But it’s titty milk so maybe it tastes different? Also, how does 7 Up know what breast milk and 7 Up even tastes like?
It might not’ve been though. There was big advertising push in the early/middle 1900’s to get infants off breastmilk and onto formula as the “modern” way.
Even today, there are large differences related to socioeconomic class, in how many parents use formula. Also varies a LOT per country.

Personally identifiable information story time: I have some cousins who lost all their baby teeth because my aunt and uncle gave them so much Mello Yello (highly caffeinated corrosive citrus carbonated drink). The parents would fill a bottle with the stuff and give it to my cousins to drink when they were still infants, and then as they grew into toddlers, that’s pretty much all my cousins would drink.
Their best was Make 7- Up yours.
Especially the t-shirt with Make 7 on the front and UP YOURS on the back.

They really did! It’s the premise of the entire ad.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how depraved it is to see a baby and think “customer”?

7-up or not, I have watched plenty of parents giving sugar sodas or other calorie laden drinks like sports beverages as a steady diet to young children. I can’t recall any that were straight up infants like in this ad. But certainly very young children. And those children, to my eye, did appear obese. Not to mention being set on a path they will struggle to get off of, later in life.
So much modern food is terrible for you, but addictive, and advertised everywhere.
Even juice is awful. And we’ve selected for more and more sugary fruits through selective breeding.
I bet Philip Morris could top that claim.
