Nolan has alienated more than a few A-list actors with his directing style. He’s got a work-product which constantly glazes militarism, valorizes authoritarianism, and takes itself far too seriously to afford room for a bit of humor. After that, he’s just Michael Bay minus some explosions. Brilliant cinematographer. But the underlying work never fails to disappoint.
