With enough time anyone can learn how to produce smut and it’s inevitable, but it wasn’t as easy as asking grok to do it, and any barrier of entry imho is welcome. Especially since dumdums use another persons’ server in the open to do it. Trying to limit commercial LLM’s capabilities to provide Smut-as-a-Service would cause them additional costs, create grounds to sue them and further desacrilize AI hype.

I am not saying that the goal is a bad one. It is a no brainer. I guess I just have less trust in the effectiveness or willingness of any of the two parties to do meaningful regulation. This feels more like an effortless propaganda move (look we “save” the kids, which our enemies want to eat). Both parties play that game without ever really changing any rules of the system. Yet we too fall for the trap of cheering them on. To summarize, this smells like a nothing burger, painted to look like a win.
