First time I hear about that community project, I will check it a little. I am more wired to search for a place where I am comfortable and letting myself go, I don’t like people deciding for me. I guess this could be the reason I don’t vibe with the genre.
It still takes autonomy away unconsented, and I think also has themes of losing oneself (honestly, I haven’t gotten that much into it), but that “benevolent empire” is genuinely benevolent, just in a “I’m gonna help you against your desires in ways you way not want to and make you happy in a way you would otherwise hate”

My problem with these settings is that I find the idea of a pleasure cube (Wikipedia for experience machine, YouTube video comparing tiktok to one) very disturbing. I know would be unable to resist going into an alternate reality where all I feel is pleasure all of the time.
