This is partly political political of course, but it also extremely obviously femdom fetish stuff.

Same artist, portraying himself as Aristotle and the same feminine subject as Phyllis

Looks like Mannerism, if it was painted in the late 1600s. Those painters did a lot of fetish shit.

Interesting take, and i can see why you went there. But this is slightly too early for that. Both works here are from around 1530 (He would keep portraying a very similar looking feminine subject in the role of Aphrodite/Venus for a few years)
Lucas Cranach the elder was a German artist and is probably best known for his Luther (The one you’ve seen)

    CW: old timey porn

The tale varies in the telling, but the core of it is as follows: Aristotle advises his pupil Alexander to avoid Phyllis, the seductive mistress of his father, the king, but is himself captivated by her. She agrees to ride him, on condition that she play the role of dominatrix. Phyllis has secretly told Alexander what to expect, and he witnesses Phyllis proving that a woman’s charms can overcome even the greatest philosopher’s male intellect. Phyllis is also described as Alexander’s mistress or possibly wife, rather than his father’s

People have always been drawing art of their weird fetishes, half of those cave paintings we don’t know what they’re about are probably just something the painter was really, really into.

Maybe. I think it is significant that art depicting women beating men was standard fare already in the middle ages. And people are still mad about it.

I really wanna know why there aren’t any cave paintings of human faces. There are really detailed depictions of animals but I think the only known depictions of humans are very simple, like stick figures.
