I’m queer, married to a trans person. If you walked into my store with a shirt that said “Kill Trans People” I’d call your ass out too. No one is wearing a Star of David scarf in the middle of summer in Pennsylvania without trying to instigate some kind of political agenda. Intolerance should be made uncomfortable. Intolerance should never be tolerated. And the fact you’re defending people actively sowing hate in America makes you just as shitty a person.

The star of David isn’t inherently Zionist, nor is being a Zionist inherently against a free Palestine. An American flag doesn’t mean one is pro bigotry or supports Trump.

I can’t say for sure about the intent of the customer, and neither can you, but even if they were trying to start shit, what wisdom is there in giving them exactly what they want? Imagine getting fired because you got trolled.
I generally try to assume that people are mostly kind and just trying to live their lives in peace, until shown otherwise. I would consider that respectful, not cowardice, and I think it’s a little sad that you equate assuming the worst of people and then accosting them based on those assumptions with “bravery”.
