I am reading Plato’s symposium rn and it is basically a series of speeches regarding love that build upon each other in sequence. Almost none of the emphasis is on heterosexual relations. That sort of relationship gets mentioned as an aside. Much of this is admittedly pederasty but Pausanius (who is in a gay relationship with Agathon) and Aristophanes openly advocate for adult homosexual relations and Aristophanes even rejects the common notion that it is shameful for the bottom to actively enjoy intercourse.

Nuts how much of it has its origin in misogyny though

Also it’s just a really fun read, I expected it to be dry as hell but these guys are funny (or at least Plato is lol). They got jokes.
