I think your approach is a very reasonable standard to hold Mamdani to. I hope activist groups (and/or NYC-DSA) will push for him to start trimming the budget, even if he can’t slash it to death quite yet. It would probably take some on-the-ground effort from activist groups to start building the grassroots needed to support that effort (and beyond).
