Breeding animals for grossly deformed looks that causes severe painful health issues is grotesque. Pugs are probably the most popular example of this. Just look at a pugs skull and you can see the extreme deformity compared to its wolf ancestors. Pugs used to have normal sized snouts. Pugs are wonderful dogs, but the trend to keep breeding flatter and flatter faces have caused them severe health issues.

Now they are trying to do this to cats, Scottish folds should not be bred anymore. The same mutation that causes their “cute” ears is also related to cartilage and bone deficiencies that causes severe arthritis. These cats will live a life of severe pain, just because humans think folded ears are “cute”. Scottish Folds are banned in many countries including Scotland. Another breed that is considered “cute” is the munchkin, which has short limbs, but these short limbs is also associated with severe spinal issues, another case of “cute” leading to an extremely painful life.
