well it’s a really good song in its own right (and from a really good band)
Trans women must really love spotify
The site with the article won’t load but going by what I can see it’s more than second and third combined (Idol from Oshi no Ko S1 and Kick Back from Chainsaw Man S1), which is a little odd. It’s worth noting that just about every other entry on the list a shounen, lots from extremely recent shows. Perhaps the band itself has a large fanbase I’m unaware of, because Lain is imo pretty niche.
I’m surprised “Cruel Angel’s Thesis” isn’t higher on the list. I’d say Lain isn’t niche, it’s just old. It’s one of the best-remembered anime of its era.

This is amusing to me. I have never heard of this anime, but I am well familiar with this song. I was just thinking in the past couple of months while listening to it that it sounds like it could be an anime credits track.
I guess I got it on the reverse end, but still!
I watched years ago, from what I remember it is a critique of social media and its affects.
Interesting interpretation, since the series is from 1998, before social media as we know it existed. Not a wrong interpretation, it definitely yields itself to that interpretation.
It predicted it very well, in the show the internet is called the wire.
Some form of social media did exist in 1998:
Do not cite the old magic to me. I was there when it was written.
