The scale of this is hard to comprehend. Complete catastrophe like I’ve never seen.
It’s the sheer speed and magnitude of the devastation that shocked me. I’ve seen plenty of natural disaster footage over the years, from tsunamis to hurricanes to floods. But this is unlike anything I’ve ever witnessed. Everything and everyone in that bustling scene just erased in the blink of an eye once it hits.

When the tribunals for climate change happen, there needs to be no leniency.
Nothing you can inflict on or demand off anybody could outweigh this. Climate catastrophy defies every concept we have of justice.
People throw the phrase “manmade horrors beyond comprehension” a lot with varying degrees of accuracy or as a form of hyperbole.
There is no other phrase that captures how I felt when I realized what was happening. Manmade horror beyond comprehension.
Yeah, even just thinking back on it, something in me screams “how is this real? how can this actually have happened?”

This is a mass casualty event, not “possible death”. Can we get a real and honest CW? This is such a shitty way to talk about who knows how many people dying.

I feel like we need a rule for failure to CW when it’s this egregious. If you need to be reminded to warn people they are about to watch what appears to be hundreds to thousands of people die you probably need a little time out to ruminate on why you would need a reminder for something this excessive. It’s not like it’s an edge case and this is so callous it’s frankly offensive.
I will remove it if you think that’s best. They added a CW tag, and the Tankie Tube video has a CW on it so I’m ambivalent about taking it down unless you want me to.
It’s important that we see the effects it climate change and the disasters it has wrought, but I also understand that seeing them sucks. I lived through Helene in the USA, and this sort of stuff is just gonna keep happening.

Thanks for changing it. I think it’s important to acknowledge what is actually happening with climate change. We are starting to get genuine catastrophes and minimising them is both dangerous and disrespectful.

My mom had cable news on and they showed a bunch of these clips. They were all like this, just people going about doing normal shit and out of nowhere entire communities destroyed in seconds. I don’t think they’ve finished figuring out what the death toll is but I wouldn’t be surprised if it eventually ended up in the thousands.

Yeah I was reading here that the glacial collapse is what actually caused the seismic event.
So if that’s the case I think climate change would be a fair thing to blame.
