They didn’t tell us shit at school (we were close enough that it was possible some kid’s parent died in the attack). They cancelled outdoor recess though, which was odd, and a few kids went home early. On the drive home, my mom explained to my brother and I that a very serious tragedy had happened. When I got home, I walked into the living room and the first thing I saw was a plane crashing into the tower on TV, followed by my dad saying “They stole my idea!”
“They stole my idea!”

Did your father plan any other terrorists attacks to make up for this or did he consider the work done?
He just grew up and worked in the city and had a seething lumpen hatred for the Port Authority.
So just an average crank.
yep

I’m from the UK so it happened in the early afternoon there. I remember because my friend’s 21st birthday was on September 10, a bunch of us went out and got absolutely shit-faced that night and stayed at his place, and we all woke up at about lunchtime feeling like hammered crap, turned on the TV, and about 10 minutes later there was a breaking news thing and then we all watched 9/11 happen live.
Definitely in the top 5 of worst hangovers ever.
Still trying to remember that news channel that had an ad playing side by side with the twin towers burning. Can’t remember if it was the day of or a memorial broadcast.
If the Applebee’s thing happened during 9/11, Applebee’s wouldn’t exist now.
I remember shortly after 9/11 my school had a fire drill, so with everyone out on the lawn I pointed to the school and jokingly said to one of my teachers “it’s a terrorist attack” and he got mad lmao
I wasn’t born yet! :3
I don’t remember 9/11, I was too young, but Mom talks about how she was at work and I was at some daycare, and when she saw the attack, she rushed to the daycare to get me. When we got home, Dad was there (he worked nights) watching the TV. Apparently I saw it and asked what the angry clouds were for. I don’t know any more of the story. Don’t even know if my parents remember much else.
I was home sick from school on 9/11. I went back to sleep for a few hours after my mom called in to the school. I got up and walked into the livingroom with the news already on the tv and saw the second plane hit live before I even figured out what they were reporting on.
This is literally exactly what happened to me too. Hell yeah.
