What an absolute turd of a statement. Says a lot about a person and any organization they might lead.

Meanwhile it’s the same type of person campaigning for defunding of public libraries and schools.

I think you mean “defunding” and I agree. Plenty of black and female artists made excellent work in that space and it sounds like her book may be one of the dying cries of her bigoted generation’s values.

Yep, edited my comment shortly after posting because I’m too cool to proofread until after I post. 😎

But yeah, this is definitely a value I’m hoping can die with a generation. But also not holding my breath.

Don’t hold your breath. We’ve been waiting for this sentiment to go away via attrition for a couple hundred years. There are always plenty of young bigots, and public sentiment has just become a swinging pendulum.

We outnumber them. We need to stop being victims of our own apathy.

Don’t sell humanity short- we are getting better. When my mom was born, women weren’t allowed to get credit cards without the permission of a man. Ruby Bridges is still alive and in her sixties. People forget how recent the Civil Rights era was. We’ve made a lot of progress in recent decades and while we still have a long way to go, we are improving.
