Earlier this year America's military defenses were put on notice against a Chinese balloon believed to be on an espionage mission. Gen. Mark Milley talks about what we've learned from an examination of the balloon's wreckage.

Nobody could have predicted this. I have my doubts even when they call it “spying equipment” or whatever considering Chinese claim it was a meteorological balloon, certainly no doubt they would try to paint those tools as such.

    Yeah, that’s what I thought when the first report surfaced.

    But it came from China, and ended up over the US, so of course it was accused of espionage and rural idiots with hunting rifles stood on their porches and balconies and took pot shots. Even after the government asked them not to shoot at it.

    Ahh, Red Scare absurdity. Never really died. Always good fun, just how absurd this nonsense gets and how little it’s really changed since fuckin’ 1917.
