Is a good feature but it’s interesting to see when someone decides to reduce all of your content for no reason.

    I think the biggest reason people think they need anonymous voting is just that that is what they are used to on reddit. I see a lot of advantages to it being public. with more moderation tools public votes could be part of how downvote raids are prevented. You could block people who are just downvoting everything you post (although I admit idk how blocking effects votes on the fediverse).

    Voting is a type of participation in a conversation, and anonymity in online spaces has proven again and again to motivate toxic behavior. I personally would be a fan of a system with no “likes”, no upvotes or downvotes, no non-comment reactions available at all, except for maybe “share”, so the only way people can engage is with words… But, I’m sure there are lots of reasons that would never work well.
