Look, I am not putting anyone down. I am merely stating a fact. The amount of fans of “The Operative: No One Lives Forever” that were happy when modders made it playable on modern hardware are probably less than 50 people, but we still recognize that we are a small number of people

TLDR: The number of people in a group has nothing to do with whether they should be treated kindly. Yet by bringing it up in reply to my call for decency, you implied that it does. As if, if the people affected are few enough, respect is unneccessary.

Even if the only people who care are the modders themselves, it’s still uncool to shit on them. ALL my comment does, is tell someone off for putting down whatever fanbase remains for a game that’s already dead. That you framed a reply to that in a “no, but” suggests you thought they had good reason to be rude.

What is there to add? You’re not correcting anything. There is no “but” here, yet by using that word you undermine whatever precedes it. I wasn’t looking to inform, but to encourage decency. Walking in with an acchually in this way and calling attention to the number of fans is irrelevant at best, and at worst, undermines my attempt to call for cordial behaviour.

There was no implication of mistreatment. That’s you putting intent and meaning into words that I neither said nor implied.

Whatever argument you’re trying to have, you can have it by yourself.

Clearly you didn’t mean it, now that you’ve made further comments, but when have words only ever carried the intended effect?

If someone says “let’s be cool to each other” and you reply with “yes, but there’s only three of them” then it looks like you’re saying that being decent is only warranted for large numbers.

Your wording makes your agreement conditional, in a way it shouldn’t be, and didn’t even intend.
