I just started using voyager. It shows net upvotes (or downvotes) on a post. Eg, if a post had 20 upvotes and 5 downvotes, it appears to just be showing 15 upvotes, which is the net of the two. Is there somewhere I can see the separate vote counts?
- I implemented this and am working on getting it merged. See https://github.com/aeharding/voyager/pull/185.
- I find that what is displayed affects how I feel and what action I am likely to take. When downvotes are displayed separately and prominently (e.g. lemmy builtin frontend) I am less likely to downvote a comment I find lacking as long as it appears to be in good faith, instead I will skip to and upvote other, better comments below so they “rise up”. When downvotes are hidden (e.g. Apollo and current Voyager) I am more likely to treat downvote as “disagree” to “push it down.” - Well said. - Obscuring downvotes also obscures community reaction. Knowing how many people reacted negatively is useful.

- Better yet…. Can we have the option to NOT see upvotes and downvotes? - I implemented this in the same pull request as the main post, and am working on getting it merged. See https://github.com/aeharding/voyager/pull/185.

- On this note, can we not have a karma total on our profile please? It’s bad enough I need to see the amount of comments.
- Yeah, IDK about the other federated reddit clones but Lemmy lets you see the number of downvotes
- I found this weird on desktop too. On straight mobile you see upvote downvote. On desktop I see only the difference. Tis a weird choice.
- Might be an appearance option they are working on. When I tap on the post to view comments it shows the favorability as a percentage next to the vote button. Just doesn’t show up on main feed with other posts. I’m noticing more features are becoming available as updates patch through.
