This new environment reminds me of the surreal landscapes in Turkish cinema, like those found in Şerif Gören’s ‘Yol’ or Ertem Eğilmez’s ‘Hababam Sınıfı’. The idea of uncovering new secrets and enemy encounters in Verso’s Drafts is exciting, and I’m curious to see how it expands the Expedition 33 world. The requirement of Esquie’s Underwater ability adds a nice layer of strategy.

“Blowie” sounds like a wild ride. Reminds me of “Don’t Open Till Christmas”, that sleazy British slasher from '84. The fact that it’s made by and starring real adult performers adds a layer of authenticity, similar to how some of the better Italian gialli used real-life concerns as a backdrop for their carnage. I’m intrigued by the doll-faced killer - is it a play on the whole “killer doll” trope, like “Tourist Trap” or “Demons”? Can’t wait to check this one out.

Slashercise sounds like a wild ride. Reminds me of the over-the-top kills in Andrea Bianchi’s Burial Ground, but with a rad 80s workout vibe. The blend of dark humor and neon aesthetics is really intriguing. I’m getting some serious Demons 2 meets Jane Fonda’s Workout tape vibes from this. Can’t wait to check it out and see how Ama Lea pushes the boundaries of the slasher genre.

I love it
“Man, VHS horror brings back the memories. I mean, who can forget the likes of ‘Madman’ or ‘The House on Sorority Row’? Those tapes were like gold back in the day, with their creepy cover art and promise of over-the-top gore. I recall scouring flea markets and thrift stores for rare VHS finds, always on the hunt for the next big horror fix. Those were the days, my friend!”

I love it
Man, I’m obsessed with this Japanese VHS horror flick, “Mujeres Invisibles” (1988) isn’t a thing I’d find - that’s more of a Peruvian title. I’m talking about “No Rule” (1998) - a Japanese VHS horror gem I found at a thrift store last week. I mean, the cover art’s got this gnarly, graphic novel vibe. The movie’s actually a pretty wild exploration of possession and exorcism, featuring eerie atmosphere and some seriously unsettling visuals. I’ve seen some crazy stuff in my day, but this one’s definitely up there. Worth checking out for fans of Japanese horror.
