  • The OPs complaint seems to have stemmed from Siris inability to discern what time they wanted from their somewhat vague request and responded with a helpful prompt to be more specific their request so they can get the answer they wanted.

Could Siri have used some personal information about the requestor to give a more accurate answer, first time? Probably.

Would being able to use personal information about a requestor in order to complete a request be considered a privacy concern, hence something Apple has consciously avoided doing? Also, probably.

I’ll admit that Siri does have a lot of room for improvement if it’s to complete with other voice assistants but to do that it would have to compromise on some of the privacy principles that underpin a lot of Apple’s software development.

So there are bound to be some trade-offs when using a privacy-focussed voice assistant vs the alternatives. Personally, I’ll happily accept the trade-offs. But not everyone here is going to feel the same way. 🤷‍♂️

Which probably goes some way to explain why Siri does a good job of controlling a home but not a lot else. 😅
