Plenty of us use Windows without ever having bought it. I can honestly say that I’ve used almost every distribution of Windows since 3.0 and 3.11, but I’ve never given Microsoft so much as a penny.

sure. but when will you leave? like what does it take? steamos is faster for your games, linux kinda works awesome for desktop. and m$ had soooo so many fuckups over the decades…nothing seems to have made you switch to another os. so what would it take? does bill need to shoot someone in the face right on timesquare?

because even if you dont pay for the OS (isnt it free these days anyways?), you harm the internet, progress in general, you share way too much data and so on. so even if you dont give bill money directly, as a windows user you are part of a bigger problem.

When I feel comfortable enough with Mint or some other distro to be able to. I have a very nice gaming tower that I’m playing with, but have run into issues getting MechWarrior Online to function on that system. Once I’m certain that I can do everything I want to do with Linux, including printing, I will stop using Windows 7 and Windows 10. For now those OSs do everything I want, and I stripped out all the objectionable data harvesting that I could.

I agree that windows has outlived it’s use, however I have been a windows power user and MCSE certified for decades. Switching OSs isn’t an overnight thing.

and can you see the problem in your argument? you say switching isnt an overnight thing, but then again you say you will switch once everything works 100%…which would be an overnight thing, rite?

and to top it off you say this using windows 7&10…like when did everything work 100% on those?

steamdeck/steamOS works for playing games. give mint a ride. there is no reason to procrastinate fiddling with windows anymore.
