Yeah, there’s a part in Gate where foreign military forces move in on Japan to try to secure the gate and they all get destroyed even while the JDF is also busy doing war crimes in magic fantasy land, because the JDF is just that amazing.
Unfortunately, yeah. The overlap between tacticool JDF stans (too many in Japan already) and “what if fantasy world but brutally torn to pieces with tacticool modern firepower” edgelords (the kind that were also into grimdark MLP fanfics and the like) was pretty significant.
