I was a prepubescent girl when I first watched TNG and I still had a huge crush on him. It’s the beard. Cleanshaven Riker did (and still does) nothing. The beard holds the magic.
As a man with a beard, I can confirm the beard holds the magic. People generally seem to think i’m some kind of normal human being. If I shaved, they’d see that i’m actually completely socially inept and largely incapable of facial expressions.
