it’s very much borrowed from one of the reddit subs i frequent(ed) often, but the idea is to share what we’re playing weekly and hopefully create discussions around those games (or simply have a sort of “check-in”).

Do you play with mods? If so, which do you recommend? I think the last one I played was krastorio 2, which devoured a bunch of my free time

Depends on my mood, I do both. My favorite mod is krastorio 2, with the mods that the k2 people recommend along it. (Alien biomes etc).

I haven’t made it very far into space exploration, maybe it was too difficult for me or I didn’t like the balancing? I will try it again in the future.

I finished warptorio 2, it’s very cool, but you need a bit of Factorio experience for it I think. Also you need to warp manually all the time because it sends so many biters otherwise.

Also I made a bunch of videos of me playing vanilla Factorio recently: https://diode.zone/w/p/36k4bJzMFNJUro9sFcG3dX

I will have to keep playing that save ^^

If you’ve tried Satisfactory, how would you compare it to Factorio? I’ve found it to be a little easier to play in multiplayer, even if it isn’t as deep from an automation standpoint (but it’s still pretty deep).

Satisfactory is enjoyable, but I missed the same challenge that I had in Factorio. The complexity and fight against the biters is quite something. Still, Satisfactory is very… satisfactory to move around in and great with friends as well. More chill I think.

I have played Satisfactory, I started with it when I didn’t even know about Factorio.

They’re very different games, especially after you get robots in Factorio. You don’t place buildings by hand anymore, but mostly blueprints etc. Setups should be able to scale. I have never built rail in Satisfactory, but I think they’re different too.

I enjoyed Satisfactory so much, but once I had seen it all it was quite dull and pointless for me. It’s not the same with Factorio, it’s so satisfying to do it all again, but with more knowledge of the game.

I enjoy the ability to just layer your factory higher and higher. One layer is my power generation level, base layer is just iron smithing and processing, and more complex machinery higher up. Still makes a lot of spaghetti the way I make it lol 🍝

I’m hundreds of hours into my Satisfactory factory. Working on bringing my final power plant online this weekend!

Working in the swamp, late at night

Just wouldn’t be a power plant without eerie green

Humble beginnings my friend, we all started hand crafting iron rods and plates. This factory is my third, and this is about 400 hours in. At this stage you’re at the stage of “I enjoy this, right? I’m doing this for fun, right?”

I played up to the highest unlock, then didn’t finish the last elevator because there was no unlock to get ^^

Still, I never cared about what my factory looked like. Maybe that’s the problem.

There’s no problem at all lol, that’s one of the things I love, there’s no “right” or “wrong” way to play at all. We play because we must produce, the only way to play wrong is if you are not at peak efficiency.

And there’s totally an unlock! A small surprise at the awesome shop!

I’ve been playing TotK like it’s my second job since day 1, and I still don’t feel close to maxing out on its content. Breath of the Wild was my favorite game of all time, and somehow Tears of the Kingdom is even better.

        Same here.
My 7 year old loves watching the gameplay as well. So when we need a break from this heat wave she tells me she wants to watch zelda. Been a ton of fun with her.

So when shes around it’s main quest mostly. I would be ostracized if I did a temple without her.

When it’s just me I work on grinding out shrines or lightroots or armor upgrades usually.

I just got my Steam Deck and have loved playing through BoTW via CEMU with mods (playing as Linkle!)

Right now I am trying to get modded Skyrim going on my 64gb Steam Deck, since I haven’t played before and love fantasy settings!

I still remember begging my parents to buy me Skyrim for the Xbox 360 during the launch of the game! That was almost 12 years ago! Oh my! I also remember watching this guy called Utorak and having his own rendition of the trailer.

Install a 1TB SSD in there, and fill it with mods. It’s pretty easy to upgrade yourself.

I really enjoy it, but I love these types of games. There is backtracking when you’re obtaining items and unlocking doors and stuff, very similar to Prey. There’s a demo on steam to check out! Faithful to the original but in the right ways imo

I have been playing Tears of the Kingdom, but when my wife has been playing I have been switching in between Serious Sam 4 and the original Commander Keen.

Commander Keen takes a little to get used to the game feel and style, but I am actually enjoying it pretty well. You can feel a lot of what would go into id shooters. Mazelike levels with a series of key cards, but on a 2d platformer instead of a fps.

On the MMO side, Eve and FFXIV.

On the single player side, been playing some “Coffee Talk,” “Live A Live,” and “Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney” (via emulator), all on my Steam Deck.
