And… these non-citizens can hire lawyers and file suits in a US court? With what money?

I don’t see how this helps them. Maybe the ACLU will take this on.

It says right in the article it was with the help of an immigrants rights group. They were illegally pushed onto a plane and flown to Martha’s Vineyard without anyone knowing they were coming. Desantis and his henchmen broke the law, and this judge agrees and has allowed them to bring a lawsuit against them.

Also, people on US soil are to be afforded the rights of the constitution.

What constitutional rights do undocumented immigrants have?

Judges don’t issue rulings without a case. Also, plenty of people take on cases pro bono or on a contingent fee basis

Judges don’t issue rulings without a case.

This case exists, but no lawsuits do yet.

Even if someone (like the ACLU) does take this up, these people are jobless and homeless. Can they keep up a suit if they’re deported? Will pursuing it be high on their list of priorities (over, you know, food)?

Literally the first paragraph of the article:

A federal judge in Boston has ruled that migrants flown from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard in 2022 can proceed with a lawsuit against the Florida company that took them there.

Just read the article before firing off a hot take.

The migrants were flown and dropped off without notice on the island from Massachusetts. Essentially, the migrants were trafficked through America by Ron DeSantis which due to this action also gives the migrants quicker solutions to citizenship regardless of their previous status. Considering Martha’s Vineyard is an island of rich lawyers I suspect this entire case will be an easy victory for them. Hecks, I’d wager that those lawyers would represent the case cheaply or even pro bono considering how serious the violation was by that dipshit.

Lastly this happened in 2022 I’m willing to believe these people are all now employed, quite possibly still on the island.

There are so many migrant rights organizations who will be happy to get them lawyers and pursue these cases. It has the potential to ensure this never happens again (through the back door of making it far too high a liability for the transportation companies).

Hell, this could even end up affecting the routine bus trips. At minimum, create very clear disclosure and consent requirements for the migrants, which would be a huge win.

      non-cotizens

“All men are created equal” <- notice how it doesn’t specify citizenship

      with what money?

What business is that of yours? Where did trumpler get his 175m to pay for his own crimes? (It surely wasn’t his own bank account)

Your ilk is melting away, enjoy the time you have left un-drowned in the vitriol you promote.

Look, I know you’re enjoying that self-righteous high right now but I think you’ve misunderstood my position.

My point was that while it’s great that a judge has given these people standing, they’re not really in an economic position where they’re able to file lawsuits (and I’m not sure if they even can file lawsuits in US courts when they’re non-citizens).

Fortunately, based on the other comments it sounds like they are getting help, and someone else is filing lawsuits on their behalf.

        the vitriol you promote

You’ve really misread what I wrote.

Why don’t you clarify your comment instead of attacking people who are standing up for immigrants? You’re the one on a self-righteous high right now. Take a look in the mirror.
