At this point u can run like 80%+ of all games on steam. But yeah if you are a slut for competitive games its not so great.
Tbf this green text is from 2018, it was rougher then being a Linux gamer than today.
True true, very observant of u :)
It doesn’t run Denuvo worth shit.
TBF Denuvo doesn’t run worth shit even on windows, that’s why cracks are more popular than the retails
Not even 15 seconds after reading your reply i see this https://sh.itjust.works/post/18950869
Perfect timing
I don’t like counterfeits so I only run games with Denuvo and I haven’t had a problem.
Lmao “counterfeits” it’s the same product, just with DRM missing
Don’t feed the trolls
I know they’re a troll lmao, they are on like every political post on this site
This post is about Linux, the fuck you on about politics?
Drm replaced with a crypto miner.
At this point I’m not sure if crypto miner would consume more resources (and thus have a bigger impact) than denuvo.
If you run it without the DRM everyone knows you’re broke-ass.
You’re gatekeeping installing rootkit software to (badly) protect profits for giant corporations!? lmao
Just admit you don’t know how to remove it, this is so obviously a skill issue…
What, are you Empress or something?
God I wish.
So how many nft’s did you buy?
Man, motherfuckers are always trying to steal my monkeys.
You can do both as well. Buy a legit copy to support the studio, and then run the pirated version for performance.
Good point! Though personally, I am much, much less likely to want to support a developer/publisher that forces DRM on me in the official version.

Oh no! Anyway…
So he did not enable the “Try proton on all games, even if not explicitly supported” in steam options. shakes head
this was in 2018
About a month before proton released
Mfw super tux kart isn’t good enough for anon
Game devs: WhY SuPpOrT iT WhEn ItT’s oNlY 5% oF oUr ReVeNuE!!
Because you made it so, dumbass!
Dumb game devs not writing games in Java
*pours drink for dead Flash games* The real OGs
Until you discover flashpoint
That is necromancy! 🤩 Thanks
You’re welcome
Operation Flashpoint was the best!
Yeah but I’m referring to this
I know
Death of Flash games is sad, death of Flash video not, I spot of Flash’s grave because of all the horrid memories
Linux users are the vegans of the computer world.
Exactly, Linux users are the ones willing to sacrifice the frivolous for the good of all.
While being very vocal about it.
Microsoft and Apple have paid marketing departments. Linux uses open source marketing aka Linux users shilling at every opportunity.
I think to be a shill you have to be getting paid or otherwise compensated for it. If you truly believe it and nobody is sweetening the deal then you’re just an enthusiast!
It’s funny, I hear more from people complaining about vegans than I do from vegans. People complaining about vegans are literally more annoying than vegans at this point.
Lmfao how to wreck a user base in 6 words
I can smell the penguin tears
What was that? I couldn’t hear it over the sound of not having adware integrated into my OS. ;)
If pointing out you’re right weren’t necessary, you would already know and be helping. Oh well. nom
More like vegetarians, as many suck on nvidias tittie.
Nvidia is persona non grata in the Linux community right now, apparently their drivers are shit
The drivers themselves are great (on par with windows). But they don’t play well with others.
I can run all my games on Linux.
Many have tried
My brother in christ you forgot to apt-get install winetricks
Really speaks to how far we’ve come since 2018. PlayOnLinux was the simplest way to get Windows games working and that was still a lot of tinkering.
And that was a big step above just trying to get Wine configured to play games. I did that once way back. It was just too much work for worse performance than Windows. I’m sure there were Linux wizards out there who did a better job getting their games working in Linux than I did.
Now I’m primarily enjoying PC games on a Steam Deck with almost no configuration needed. Amazing!
Jesus christ. I was thinking my head “has it really changed that much in just like 2 years”. Then reality set in :(
that’s the only thing preventing me from installing Linux and also pirated games which are only on Windows
This is from 2018. I can’t speak for pirated games but basically everything on steam works out of the box these days.
I don’t even check any more. Just buy the gme and run it!
All anon had to do was right click the game > properties and turn on proton compatibility
This is from 2018, so he also needed a time machine or to wait a while.
here
There’s a tool called GRUB you can use to dual boot Windows and still be part of the gang. Just don’t say it out loud though, especially when arguing with a macOS user.
I recently replaced MacOS with Linux on a MacBook. And next year my last installation of Windows is going to be deleted. I absolutely hate this ad-infested crap they want to distribute.
The ads aren’t even bothering me yet, though I object strenuously on principle. Shittiest thing about the os so far is the fucking load times - how did you screw this up, retards?
I got Manjaro Gnome installed on a 2015 MacBook Pro (and on a P400), but I see absolutely no reason why I should use Asahi on my M2 Max.
I’ve been waiting for a Darwin+Gnome OS for years now but people seem to prefer ignoring that macOS kernel is open source too (just as Swift, Swift compiler, WebKit, Cups, ALAC, HealthKit, HomeKit…)
Mac OS is basically a Linux kernel fight me.
(I know it’s just they’re both unix based, it is joke).
Akshully only macos is unix based, linux is unix like… /pedantry
Ackshewaly MacOS is based on BSD, which is not Linux or Unix
Mac OS is certified Unix
BSD, and by extension Darwin and macOS, is most definitely Unix, tracing its roots all the way back to the original Bell Labs Unix source code.
Didn’t Minix also have Unix roots? So why is Linux only Unix-like?
Every single free operating system made sure in the 90s that not a single line from commercial OSes like Unix persists in the kernel and userland. The idea is Unix, but not the code.
Ah, thanks
Its like the step between Windows and Linux. “Linux-light” if you will, but with more tracking!
Sigh. Every time!
It honestly surprises me that nobody has tried to jailbreak games from steam’s clutches
