Democrats are looking on nervously as their last-ditch goal of recapturing the House in an otherwise brutal election shows signs of fizzling.

24 hours ago I hoped Trump would be out of my life forever in less than a day. Right now I’m watching the House races in ever-slimmer hopes that Trump won’t have control of the presidency, the Supreme Court, and Congress in January.

The US Enabling Act seems certain to follow if that happens.

Sure looks like the Republican will be in absolute power come January 20th. And, ironically, I feel like Republicans have gotten more done than Democrats over the past two years despite only holding the House.

They have. Because their sole purpose was to prevent anything the Dems wanted. It’s easy to do when your only goal is to obstruct.

Well yeah Democrats tell the workers they don’t want what they say they want and instead choose to push what disconnected billionaires ask them to push socially. Repubs tell the workers the truth in that Democrats don’t care what you want and they instead promise the impossible or wildly impractical very confidently and people would rather buy the dream then face reality.

Best I can do is livable human future out of your life forever in less than a day.

Ugh. It’s genuinely horrific. The fourth reich.

They seriously need to course correct their policy decisions. Capitulation to Israel and corporate interests, playing kingmaker with their presidential candidates, and pandering to conservatives are gutting their support.

Way too late for that. Trump and co are easily on track to gut every single ounce of functional democracy and ensure that nobody left of Joe Manchin is ever elected again.

You can’t have a better world if you allow Arabs and Iranians to slaughter half the Jews in it

Cant have it by slaughtering half the muslims either. But you lot seem to lack any sort of self reflection on the matter.

Not being vindictive at all, but I hope this hurts, like a lot. If this is a repeat of his first term he’ll grift, stumble over everything important, and have a by-and-large uneventful term (pandemic aside). That’s enough for the uninformed masses to say, “Hey, this ‘fascism’ thing ain’t so bad,” and they did their hooks in even deeper.

I don’t think he’ll stumble over anything - if he gets a trifecta, he’ll sign whatever the fuck is put in front of him, and this time he won’t have establishment Republicans to keep him from completely going off the rails. Instead he’ll have Elon in charge of budgeting, RFK Jr doing “medical” stuff, and Bannon pushing fucking insane shit.

The guard rails are down and we’re flying off the cliff.

It’s not a repeat. The GOP has had four years to plan and strategize. Trump and the wider GOP didn’t expect to win in 2020. The GOP didn’t know what to make of him. Now, they know how to cajole him, how to get him to do whatever, and they’ve had time to actually put down a map of what they want to do.

Trump may not know what he’s doing, but considering he’s likely going to let his Cabinet do most of the actual work like last time, I’m very, very worried. I’m even more worried if we wind up getting JD Vance instead after a year or so, because while Trump has at least one guiding star (money), JD Vance is utterly rudderless, willing to take direction from whoever is paying him at the moment.
