This feels like a page from the “Chinese spy balloon” handbook. Crank up the propaganda and fear-mongering to max at the start, and then slowly ratchet down after everyone’s already lost interest and the damage has been done. Six months from now I wouldn’t be surprised if a report from the Dutch government was quietly released that actually spoke the truth about what happened.
