It’s really good, and I’m enjoying it. But holy fuck does the licensed music in this show suck! Not only does it not really fit the setting, and is just kinda meh… But Imagine Dragons are diagetic???

It’s better than anything based on League has a right to be.

S2 feels rushed so far, but that’s Netflix for you. Tons of resources for season 1 to draw in the new viewers, but once they’re in there’s no incentive to continue spending money on subsequent seasons.

yeah this is my biggest problem with the show too. the music is depressingly bland and corporate, totally lacking in genuine feeling

I also hate how every action sequence has to devolve into some cringe-ass music video with obnoxious editing. but I guess that’s what I get for watching a gamer show

in contrast to a bunch of people in this thread, i’ve been enjoying the music, the story AND the art for both seasons so far, what can i tell ya shrug-outta-hecks

also for what it’s worth I don’t think any of the music is licensed, I’m fairly sure it’s all original for the show

Everyone I know that likes Imagine Dragons is a zoomer. It’s their first band they liked, like Smash Mouth or Backstreet Boys was for millennials. Got to give them a break

People are free to enjoy whatever kind of music. I happen to think Imagine Dragons is schlock music for car commercials, but that’s besides the point.

It’s just not music that fits with the setting at all. It feels like they just blew a chunk of their production budget on expensive licensed music, because they had that sweet sweet Netflix money to throw around. Not because it enhanced the atmosphere or emotionality of the piece.

There’s some outside context that you would miss if you aren’t a league gamer, and that’s Imagine Dragons being deeply wrapped up with Riot and previous esports tournaments - they have done several themes including Warriors which became a huge song.

It’s kind of the brand identity of Riot now, they have to include it in all their works even if it thematically clashes with the specific atmosphere of a piece

I like the opening song 😳

But ya, the scene where they were diagetic was weird and out of place lol. I figured they were trying to do something like Samurai Champloo, where the anachronistic/out of place music was a purposeful stylistic choice.

The only good thing about Arcane is the art and animation. The story, writing, and music all suck. I guess the voice acting is fine, as well, considering what they’re given.

But the art is so good that it’s worth watching.

I definitely find its overall story to be really underwhelming. I do not care at all about the political machinations of this setting. The more grounded, interpersonal drama between the show’s lead characters is much more well done

Some things about this show are really good and some really put me off, can’t put my finger on what. It’s agressively okay.
