This test will demonstrate to the state, the federal government, and the general public that I can safely drive a bus.
It composes of four sections. Air brakes, pre trip inspection, skills (parallel parking, alley dock backing) and road test.
The stakes are extremely high, because of how sensitive personal finances and life in general has become due to this risky career change. I’ve gotten this far in my endeavors to become the best bus driver and public servant I can be and I’m absolutely terrified I will fuck this up.
Save my spirit- I’m trying not to cry in so fucking stressed.
As a former bus driver, you got this!
I’ve taken many practical tests, from cars to motorcycles to busses to airplanes and I still get nervous.
For me, when it comes to the rote memorization stuff, I find that it works out better wrapping up the study by noon the day before and taking it easy until the test, rather than staying up late studying.
And remember, after the pretrip, skills, and air brakes portions are done and you get on the road, you’re basically home free. In CA at least you get 15 mistakes.
Remember to memorize height signs for bridges and overpasses you come across, I nearly got dinged for that lol
I’ll definitely note those as apparently a portion of the road test will be on a freeway! Thanks so much!
Another driver told me not to hop a curb and I’ll pretty much pass that portion.
Sending you calm vibes. It’ll be over soon enough, then you’ll be a true public servant. Better than the cops.
As an aside, I have a long time friend of mine named Russell who drive a bus where I love. He’s been driving busses for a decade or so now. He and my sister were school friends. Back when he first started driving she always called him Bussell, and it just stuck.
bussell
Good luck with the bus driving test, and thank you for your service
happy to serve the community and provide people a ride and a safe place out of the harsh elements!
I rely on the bus to get anywhere (because can’t drive, road too unsafe for bicycles, no energy to walk far), so it’s really appreciated! I hope you can become bus driver soon
to our public servants and may you pass with flying colors and join their ranks.
I don’t think I’ve commented about it before but I’ve seen your journey from whenever you first posted about it I think. Great job getting it done, I’m sure you’ll do great!
Hexbear is cheering for you
you got this!!! we’re all rooting for you!!!
I was super freaked out before my cdl test. Then I remembered how terrible some of the drivers I see are. If they can pass the test, so can we.
I’ve seen some CDL holders do some pretty dubious things, if they can pass, surely I can
They are really bad lmao. But to be fair, you spend all this time in training memorizing the detailed pretrip procedure, and by the time you’re one year in it’s become a 10 second walkaround. The tires are still on the bus? Let’s go!
Dw you got this and you will have fun honking at cars blocking the bus stops
> you will have fun honking at cars blocking the bus stops
Buses in the agency I’m in are also fitted with Lane violation cameras, I’m gonna have a field day pressing that button
This will all soon be but a happy memory!
Good luck Monday!
Is that ???
I think it’s a Rodent of Unusual Size, though I didn’t think they existed
Glomp!
Just your friendly fellow denizen of the fear swamp! It’s not that bad!!!
Try to enjoy the weekend, avoid the three terrors, focus on rest. You’ve put in the work already, be proud. I’m looking forward to hearing of your success!
Wishing you the absolute best of luck- and prayers, if spirituality means anything to you.
who the hell parallel parks a bus?
Picking up pedestrians in a tight fit is a pretty common thing for some drivers, esp in cities.
Transit agencies actually discourage you to reverse a bus anytime let alone parallel park one
This stipulation comes from the state and they want to see if I “could” do it in an emergency
definitely not me
