Officers then attempted to enter the establishment. However, the doors had been locked by staff inside who were concerned for their safety, having previously dealt with disgruntled customers who they had found to be intimidating.

    Smart.

I thought that was going to say

the doors had been locked by staff inside who were concerned for their safety, having previously dealt with police who they had found to be intimidating.

I didn’t realize that this wasn’t an onion article and thought it would go like

“Officers then attempted to enter the establishment. However, the doors had been locked by PULL-signs and could not be forcibly pushed open.”

After reading the article though, this seems like the cops are on that mental level. So yeah…

I remember this story. Unsurprisingly the guy also won reelection the next month.

You know what I do when a fast food restaurant gets my order wrong? I say “oh, that sucks,” and then I eat my food. Food service employees don’t get paid enough to deal with normal disgruntled customers, and especially not disgruntled law enforcement officers on a power trip.

I just ask for a refund, and if they don’t do it, I go straight to a chargeback on my credit card. This has only ever happened once, tbh. Hold the business accountable.

“Hey, I ordered the double with cheese, but this is a spicy chicken…”

“Oh whoops, sorry about that sir let’s try that again.”

        Try this first maybe?

Yeah, and have them spit in it because they all hate customers, perhaps reasonably so, and will assume you’re going to do some vindictive shit like the cops did.

          I’ll just take the refund.

Yeah, and have them spit in it because they all hate customers,

Maybe you shouldn’t be ordering there at all then.

I’ve worked in fast food, and you sir, are an asshole. I’ve seen your type and you exude asshole from the moment you walk into the building. They know you’re an asshole before you even order, they don’t need to wait until you ask for a replacement to find out.

You really underestimate how strong that comes off you.

I never said I had you figured out, I told you what you smelled like. And if I can smell it over the Internet from a couple of sentences then people who work with the public on a regular basis can definately smell it the moment you walk in.

You know what, yeah you’re basically right.

There’s no basis of trust with the public. There was a time when you’d go downtown and the hardware store was owned by the guy who lived across the street from you, the clerk at the grocery store was your friend’s son, the lawyer your mother worked for as a secretary came in to your office to add a new car to his insurance policy. There were communities, you knew each other, you grew up together. There was room for benefit of the doubt.

Now I live in one of the houses on one of the streets in a residential zoned area along with ten thousand interlopers who have gathered here around a collection of national chain retail stores to build tall fences along property borders and sit inside and stream one of the same five shows in solitude. Everyone is a stranger and thus everyone is a threat and you might as well destroy someone at the first tiny sign of any issue because strangers are perfectly replaceable.

Yeah, there was a guy who left another comment telling me that nobody would spit in my food because “I don’t matter” or some other edge-lord nonsense. The same reasoning can be used to justify any kind of mistreatment or revenge a person could want. People are brave when they think there are no consequences, like when they’re cutting people off in traffic, carving their name into ancient trees, or putting a burger together in the back of the kitchen. I’m just going to choose not to participate in their nonsense, because its far more peaceful this way.

I think the person you were responding to was being a bit facetious.

Additionally, the comment saying you don’t matter has a bit more nuance than that. You literally do not matter enough to some minimum wage fast food worker to “get revenge on.” They’re just going to remake your food. Even if you were trying to dupe them somehow, the regular workers literally do not care. They aren’t paid enough to. The manager is the only one who might give a shit and they certainly aren’t going to be spitting in your food.

The workers would be fired if they did that. They’re not risking a job they might seriously need just to spite a single asshole customer. If that were the case no restaurant would still be open.

“The sheriff […] says the incident is being politicized in an attempt to win votes in the upcoming local election…”

Well yeah no shit, he said that as if it’s a bad thing! If you don’t want your retarded abuses of powers to be politicized, don’t act like a retard while abusing your power!

If I were a cop, I wouldn’t eat out, at least in uniform. Disgruntled citizens gonna put on their own special sauce.
