Yeah, opsec is a thing here. It’s technically illegal to be a communist in the usa, along with a number of other places. Communists aren’t allowed to enter the us, either. And a lot of people here are part of oppressed minorities. In general it’s a good idea to do what you can to keep your actual identity obfuscated. Some people create new accounts on a regular basis to make it harder to sift through their posts for personal identifying information.
I understand completely, and protecting yourself also protects your comrades. I already use some privacy oriented tools, but I still have loads of room to improve. Getting my old laptop to work again and use as a VPN or something similar is one of my goals for this year.
