I live in an area that was part of the sagebrush rebellion, I work in places that Claude Dallas did his thing, and it is very conservative here. I am also a federal land management employee. There is no push for this here. I notice my state isn’t named in the article, mostly higher population states, but I think that this movement will have difficulty getting traction with most right wing land users due to concerns about what it will cost them. Ranchers get a pretty good deal on public land, and it may be telling that mining and timber groups are no longer involved.
At any rate, this “coalition” is definitely something to keep watching. I used to live in New Mexico and there was, at that time, a ranching propaganda publication that really stoked fears about things that just didn’t exist. People are driven to decide on fear and we have to provide an answer to that.
Yeah, bad government. Let the rich people hoard it instead.
I’d trust a random rich person over the current federal government. There’s a good chance they’re an asshole but I know for a fact the president and Congress are.
I hate to break it to you but the reason the federal government is so shitty is because random rich people control it. Kinda hard to believe you’d even suggest such a thing considering the rampant disparity and the fact that rich people actively DGAF about you and live in a separate, accountability-free world.
If my choice is one group of rich people or another group of rich people I’ll choose the ones I don’t know over the ones I’m definitively sure are assholes.
They’re all assholes.
That’s certainly possible. I still trust a stranger more than the current incarnation of the federal government, if those are my only choices.
That kind of thinking is exactly what landed us where we are now with Trump. Guvmint bad. Rich people good (or not as bad). Rich owe us nothing.
“Any random person is probably better than Trump’s federal government” led us to trump?

Nice picture though.
