On this day in 1969, the Cordobazo Uprising began in the city of Córdoba, Argentina as a general strike, with workers seizing the city, burning the corporate headquarters of Citroën and Xerox, and clashing with the army.

The rebellion took place under the military dictatorship of General Juan Carlos Onganía, who had seized power in a coup in 1966. Onganía’s government had suspended the right to strike, froze workers’ wages, suppressed communist movements, and extended the age of retirement.

In the wake of widespread violent state repression against protesters, the labor union “CGT de los Argentinos”, led by Agustín Tosco, called for national strike on May 30th, 1969. In Cordoba, the general strike and protests began one day earlier.

On the first day of the protests, police opened fire on thousands of protesters, killing a worker named Maximo Mena, causing the strike to escalate into a citywide revolt, leading to widespread destruction of property and seizing of city spaces. Onganía crushed the rebellion with the military, and Agustín Tosco was arrested for his role in the rebellion.

Farmers as a class fucking suck. The yearly European tantrums where farmers will occupy some major city or literally throw poop everywhere because someone told them to stop poisoning the drinking water by itself should be enough to make that clear, even if one somehow missed the rampant slavery involved in the industry.

You can always go back to the other one Sirota was on recently, 865, skip to the last 15 minutes and listen to Felix take down Sirota’s whole Master Plan thesis until he says “uh guys I gotta go pick up my daughter”

I’m reading “No More Tears”, a book about the Johnson & Johnson company. It’s kind of unreal how evil that company is, yet we don’t hear much about it.

They were more responsible for the opioid epidemic than the Purdue Pharma. Not only did they fund more of the research that led doctors to over prescribe, they also grew the majority of the poppies used to make them. Far more people overdosed on their fentanyl patches than oxycontin. They also continued creating and selling new opiates as non-addictive, like tramadol and tapentadol, despite knowing this was not true.

They also sold talcum powder 30 years after they knew it was contaminated with asbestos, and at least 15 years after they had evidence that talc itself was causing cancers.

They sold Risperdal despite knowing it was worse than the Haldol it replaced. They created 2 new markets for the antipsychotic, children and the elderly, despite the fact it was never approved for anyone other than those with schizophrenia. More than 1.3 million elderly people died as a result of Risperdal, the vast majority of whom were being drugged by their nursing homes. J&J knew that nursing homes were using the drug to sedate difficult dementia patients, allowing them to get by with less employees.

DSA denounces, in the strongest possible terms, the concept of "cracker control

current dsa drama over the mlm causus reposting a statement from a maoist news account is very funny because a bunch of terminally online DSA libs are going on about how Blackredguard and the far-left are about to complety take over the organization and turn it into a a red army-like org. Deeply unserious people

I think they should’ve cast a black actor for the new Ron Weasley because it would piss off the “redhead erasure” crowd and that’d be funny

For the second time this year I’ve had an issue pop up that I called out, which was initially hand waved, end up being confirmed a month or two later. I’m expecting a pay raise or promotion any day now… any dayagony-shivering

My heart sank for a second.

Ironmouse is streaming a game fundraising for the IDF.

It’s the Immune Deficiency Foundation. She has an immunodeficiency that keeps her in her room. She is incredibly celebrated as she once held the title for the most subscribed to person on Twitch. Her good friend, CdawgVA, if memory serves, has raised over 3 million dollars for the cause. It’s about as heartwarming as the situation could possibly be and moves me to tears.

I always get very irritated when I hear some right-winger screeching about some conspiracy involving children. Like just about everyone they dislike is some sort of child molester, involved in child pedo rings, or outright mutilating them.

This came up when I overheard some American saying that teachers were pulling kids out of class to make them go through transgender sex changes. This person also claimed to work as a teacher.

I decided to stress test my Ural 4320 in stormworks to see if the engine’s cooking system works, but couldn’t even get the engine to the point where the cooling system activates :(

The Helldivers 2 devs made the invasion of Super Earth by the illuminate extra-hard so they could have an epic finale for the players in the defence of the Capital but Chinese players are going extra hard in defending the Chinese Megacity which is slowing the plans of the devs since they cant open the Capital defence map until the last Megacity falls

Its very funny chinese players have been meming about it

I really like the phrase “mandate of Heaven”. I want to use it more.

    Butts in line

“Hey dude wtf, why did you butt in line?”

“It is not my wish to cut in the line in front of you. It is the world I simply inherited from Genghis. I didnt want this Mandate of Heaven but it is what I inherited.” trump-enlightened

I use it all the time. It’s become a saying at my work when making a call or sometimes while in the weeds (I’m a cook)you gotta have people just do a thing that seems to make no sense immediately and explaining comes when shit calms down. Part of my job is telling people what to do, so having fun ways of saying ‘don’t question me, just obey me for now’ makes me much more comfortable and is more fun for everyone. If someone calls Mandate of Heaven we are to follow their scheme even against our own better judgment. Whoever called it can fall in their sword if they were wrong.

Fuck, just tonight I heard someone who was back from maternity leave use one of my catch phrases after having been away for half a year ‘Everything’s fine all the time’

It’s kind of funny that Americans treated Morgenthau as crazy for his plans for Germany, but everyone memory holed that Roosevelt aired the idea of creating a country called Wallonia by handing over a third of France to Belgium (So the Wallonian part of Belgium would be so much bigger than the rest it would just be Wallonia) and then semi-permanently putting France under military occupation just to fuck with De Gaulle.

Edit: in case people don’t believe me https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_military_government_in_France
