That page mentions a party that was just called “Extreme Left” (Estrema Sinistra) which is pretty cool. Seems like this or “Radical Left” would be a great name for a modern left party. I mean, if they’re going to demonize us anyways, might as well roll with it and take it on as a brand.
There’s a party in Denmark called “Radical left”, this is to differentiate them from the party “Left”. Now the party called “Left” is the largest right wing party and “Radical left” are progressive centrists

The radical left were basically people that wanted parliamentary democracy with no king which was seen as radical at the time. Not really communist in the way we see it. Reminder that the Jacobins were still libs though they were the furthest left at the time basically. Marx’s whole job was deconstructing the radical left and showing it needed to go further in many social aspects.
Marx did seem to have a soft spot for Garibaldi though, generally he was a positive force
I think this guy did express some actual socialist ideas towards the end of his life. Granted I think he lived most of his life before Kapital was even published.

This is true, at the later part of his life he had a split with Mazzini who denounced the First International. His work however as a revolutionary was decidedly in favor of the then historically progressive left radicals, who were liberals fundamentally. Engels even says as much that Garibaldi played as a liberal in past times.
Mazzini could be easily described as one of the first social democrats and class collaborationists.
