Watching some Werner Herzog stuff today while doing laundry and cleaning the house. Found this quote elsewhere and just wanted to share it.

The man, the myth, the Herzog.

That’s next on the list after Aguirre. Im watching a ‘greatest hits’ clip at the moment. The man is profound, comedic, tragic all at once. It’s like he leaves nothing to chance - everything is thorough, no wasted movents or emotions. He writes single drafts, he does 90 min documentaries with on ly 3 hrs of footage. And yet, it all just seems like a string of randomness happening to a random character.

He has such a way of looking at things.

Something that is startling about Herzog is his commitment to his director persona. You can look at interviews from 20 years apart and he says word for word the exact same things. Aguirre one of my all time favorites.

he has an almost equal number of great docs and great fiction films, which is rare. highly recommend into the abyss, grizzly man, bad lieutenant port of call new orleans, lessons of darkness, stroszek…many bangers. gonna rewatch his intensely odd lynch collab my son my son what have ye done soon.
