It’s more like the Nazis fought Russia. They had a deal to carve-up Poland but then the Nazis (as Nazis do) reneged on that deal.
Europe was the one making deals with the Nazis. Which the Nazis kept reneging on. As Nazis do.
Stalin offered Europe help to fight the Nazis. But Europe refused.
The position of Truman most exemplifies the West during WW2:
