Police in Georgia have clashed with anti-government protesters trying to storm the presidential palace in the capital, Tbilisi.
Security forces used water cannons and pepper spray to disperse demonstrators.
The Caucasus country has been in crisis since the ruling Georgian Dream party claimed victory in last year’s parliamentary election, which the pro-European Union opposition says was stolen. Since then the government has paused talks on joining the EU.
What the article fails to mention is that this is after over 300 days of protests. The Georgians have been protesting non-stop for their future in the face of a corrupt government which uses brutal measures to crack down on its own citizens. It frustrates me to no end that my own country decided to shoot itself in the foot (and hands and knees) by voting to leave the EU, only to see how hard the people of Georgia are fighting for their future alongside the rest of Europe. გაუმარჯოს საქართველოს! კი ევროპას!

Smart protestors, causing all of this ruckus over EU membership. They realize their immediate safety is at risk, here, with war spreading out from the Russia-Ukraine conflict and also with the scaling up of Chinese Military.

I’m not sure how to read your comment… But yes, these ongoing protests are important. So, part of Georgia was invaded in the North by Ruzzia, some years ago. Probably it’s thanks to Ukraine forcing Ruzzia’s attention away from other regions, that countries in the periphery got more room to breathe and have Protests.
Also, the current Georgian pro-Ruz government is anti EU, and declared winning elections under suspicious circumstances like electoral influence and many irregularities.

I think the confusion is that your first sentence sounds like a sarcasm, but next sounds like that wasn’t your intention.
A notation exists for all sarcastic comments by adding “/s” to the end of the comment. If you don’t always take comments at face value then you will risk endorsing horrible ideologies.
