I assume that’s a reference to how weight brackets encourage weird crash diets to prepare for weigh-ins followed by bingeing afterwards to bulk back up. For example, the grifter who wrote The 4-Hour Work Week claimed to have cheated at a wrestling tournament with a combination of crash dieting and dehydrating himself to the point that he got into the lowest bracket at the weigh in, recovered before the actual fight, and then just used his serious weight advantage to shove his opponent out of the ring and win on a technicality.
