I only got the one side done tonight, it’s tougher to Dremel through a nickel than I thought, and also pretty tough to properly jam half a wine cork in there.

I also know I need longer and beefier wood screws, I’ll cross that bridge later, I just used what I got handy for now.

Yes my hand is healing up fairly well already, I’ll probably be more or less fully healed up in about a week or so.

Just befriend an old road cyclist with packrat tendencies and ask them for end plugs. They all have decades worth of bar end plugs stashed in the garage somewhere, because handlebar tape always comes with a pair and they can’t bear to throw anything out. (Ask me how I know.)

I did the handlebar tape on a bike recently and discovered the bar end caps were corks. The owner had put his initials on them.

I bagged them up and left them with the bike in case the owner wanted them. :)

Neat. Once you get longer screws (and more spare change) you can add/remove nickels to tune the vibration damping. I’m sure they would still get accepted as money with a hole in the middle.

I bought the cheapest screw in bar plugs I could find, I think it was worth the 2€ investment.

But ngl I really appreciate good janky solutions.
