It’s a shame what happened with Neato. They were (I think) the first to add LIDAR for great systematic cleaning. Had one of their early models (no cloud, just a screen) and it was great except for the NiMH battery.

These days using https://valetudo.cloud/ is the way to go, to avoid dependency on cloud.

Cheers to the first vac that didn’t just randomly bump around the room hoping for the best. I don’t use mine anymore because the battery is so bad by now that it can’t finish properly. It does go to recharge, but it thinks the room isn’t finished and tries to redo it. With the layout of my house, it basically just loops forever, partially finishing.

there is basically only one wifi vacuum model that can easily be operated without the app, as it’s the only one that has a display. the other ones can’t do any scheduling, or I think even change the vacuum power without the app. of course virtual no-go lines are gone now too. I believe you could use a 3rd party program via USB to schedule these, but most of their wifi vacuum line is too cumbersome to use anymore.

Seems better for privacy. And if you aren’t there to turn it on, you aren’t there to see the dirt anyway. I do my own floor cleaning but I imagine half the fun is putting up your feet while the robocritter snuffles along doing it for you. And you’d be able to stop it if it ran into trouble.
