      they’re saying that they do subsidize the hardware cost. I remember a xiaomi phone that was pretty great value, with the caveat that it was full of ads by default, though you could turn off/hide all of it if you toggled 20 different settings. not sure if Redmi/poco is still doing that model though, but I’m not against it

      Nothing is a really cringe poser brand though that I want to see less of.

        Honestly, as someone moderately capable with tech and with looking up technical questions, with a very limited budget for these types of lump sum expenses, I’d buy premium hardware at bargain bin pricing with that kind of horrible defaults, assuming it didn’t prevent you from using advanced tools to uninstall all of that shit, or just installing a whole different OS, knowing that they expect to make money off it because the majority of users aren’t willing to do that and will just put up with it.
